HEALTH AND WELFARE BILL
There are three Health and Welfare Bills being considered at this time in Albany. One is exactly the same as last years bill that the governor vetoed: one is the same as last years but only applies to police and fire and one merely states that the health and welfare benefits that a retiree had when he retired cannot be diminished. It the last one that is probably the best because it does not tie in the benefits to the active employees. SOAR will keep on top of these bills and support the one that is deemed  best for our members.

Political Action Committee
The Soar Board has come to the inevitable conclusion that it is only through political influence that retirees will be able get increased benefits. Accordingly, SOAR has   formed a PAC. The Board is now reviewing the various options that are available to fund the PAC and the    membership will be advised of progress. Members may make a direct contribution by sending a check to SOAR PAC.
